At Condomínio Quintas de São José do Rio Negro, in Manaus, local weather conditions, such as intense rain and high temperatures, made this decision even more relevant. A comparative analysis between interlocking paver and asphalt revealed advantages and advantages of both materials. The interlocking paver stood out for its appearance, aesthetic appeal, high resistance and ability to move through the block joints, reducing the impact of rain on the drainage system. Asphalt showed greater capacity for intense traffic but presented higher maintenance costs and lower environmental sustainability. In tropical regions, interlocking pavement performed better against rain and heat, while asphalt suffered greater wear, increasing costs and damaging its useful life. From an environmental point of view, the paver contributed to recharging groundwater and minimizing flooding, while asphalt, derived from petroleum, generated a greater environmental impact. Economically, although paving has a higher initial cost, its durability and lower maintenance requirements make it more advantageous in the long term. Asphalt, despite being more accessible initially, required occasional interventions, increasing costs over time.
