This project presents the prototype development of a low-cost 3D printer. There are several additive manufacturing techniques, and modeling by fusion and deposition is the most common 3D printing technology, which from the rapid prototyping method, becomes useful for making parts in a simple, cheap and personalized way. The frame (structure) was made with recyclable wood and the electronics compounds was acquired in the international online retail market and the other items with the lowest price available in the market. In-depth studies were needed on the main additive manufacturing techniques, functioning and use of specific software and firmware. In building the low-cost 3D printer, we defined the structure, the specification of components, the application of a control solution in Arduino, the fabrication, assembly and testing of the real generated object. After assembling, calibrating and gauging the printer, the potential and quality of the printed parts was verified.
