Hipertensão Arterial em Felinos: Revisão de literatura.

Systemic Arterial Hypertension (SAH) is considered an abnormal and persistent elevation of systolic blood pressure (SBP) and its high values determine disease with or without clinical expression. Three types can be considered: situational or white coat, idiopathic and secondary, with a higher prevalence of secondary among felines, usually associated with some concomitant disease or condition. This work aims to carry out a review of the literature on SAH in felines, showing the importance of diagnosis and previous treatments of SAH. Early diagnosis of SAH is essential to prevent disease progression and reduce the chances of irreparable damage to the feline's body and, consequently, improve quality of life and reduce mortality. The prognosis depends on the nature and severity of the diseases that gave rise to SAH, and regular monitoring of SAH is important in order to avoid problems. Thus, it is important that the treatment is instituted with the objective of reducing the SBP values, in addition to taking into account the clinical animal situation, in order to reduce the risk of damage to target organs.
