Veterinary physiotherapy is an area that can greatly improve the quality of life of dogs, who are affected by chronic or acute, traumatic or surgical orthopedic conditions. The most frequent being bone fractures; hip dysplasia; rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament; dislocations; osteoarthritis; aseptic necrosis of the femoral head and postoperative recovery. It is important that veterinarians include physical therapy in the treatment of these animals, as it can provide: reduction of pain and inflammation at the injured site; improved function and quality of movements, with increased strength and amplitude; assists in tissue healing and also prevents or minimizes atrophy of muscles, cartilage, bones, tendons and ligaments; contributing to the well-being of patients. The main physiotherapeutic rehabilitation techniques used in veterinary medicine include thermotherapy, cryotherapy, kinesiotherapy, hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, laser therapy, ultrasound, ozone therapy and acupuncture.
