Reflexões sobre política de educação escolar indígena no Município de Manaus

The issue of indigenous school education is a theme that presents itself as a challenge in the line of public policies in the Brazilian context. This article aims to analyze this theme with reference to the Education Department of the Municipality of Manaus (SEMED), through the Management of Indigenous School Education (GEEI). We emphasize throughout the text the effective participation of the Indigenous Movement in Manaus, articulated from the villages and indigenous communities, as protagonists in the process of implementing the policy of indigenous school education in the municipality. In the text we highlight the institutionalization of indigenous school education through the creation of the GEEI within the scope of SEMED, as well as the creation of the categories "Indigenous School", "Indigenous Teacher" and "Municipal Center of Indigenous School Education".
