Wireless Sensor Networks or (WSN) are of great importance in Industry 4.0, the fourth industrial revolution that involves digitalization and automation of production processes. WSN are systems composed of wireless sensors that are distributed on a large scale within an environment, such as a factory, and communicate with each other to collect and transmit information in real time. The WSN allow obtaining data on various aspects of industrial operations, such as temperature, humidity, pressure, vibration, among others. This data is essential for monitoring equipment performance, identifying possible failures, optimizing the use of resources and carrying out predictive maintenance. Therefore, WSN facilitate the implementation of intelligent control systems, in which sensors collect data and send them to processing and analysis systems. This allows for faster and more accurate decision-making, increasing efficiency and industrial productivity. In the context of Industry 4.0, WSN have also been used in applications such as intelligent logistics, supply chain monitoring, quality control, product tracking, among many others. These networks contribute to the creation of more flexible, adaptable and connected production environments, driving digital transformation in industries. However, the implementation of WSN in Industry 4.0 also presents major challenges, such as data security, the interaction between different devices and the optimization of energy consumption. Despite this, WSN have been increasingly adopted by industries in search of improvements in production processes and competitiveness in the market.
