The 3D printer prototyping method is not considered a recent technology, but it has made a
huge technological leap due to the development of new materials. As a result of industry 4.0 focusing on
intelligent production, rapid prototyping enters this context, as it is a means capable of revolutionizing
production processes. Bearing in mind the growing importance of this technology as a part production
process and considering the need to have greater discernment and a guide on possible applications in
companies, this present article, based on a literary review, aims to present the impact of the use of printers 3D in industries 4.0, based on possible cost reduction and its impact on sustainability. Additionally, the conclusive results serve as a basis to help direct research initiatives to implement the use of this technology.
