Artigo de Periódico Análise das dificuldades da logística humanitária praticada junto aos ribeirinhos do Tarumã Mirim durante a seca extrema amazônica de 2024 e propostas de mitigação(2025-08-18) Silva, Roger Farias da; Silva, Daniel Nascimento eThis study aimed to analyze the difficulties of humanitarian logistics practiced among the riverside dwellers of the Tarumã Mirim River during the drought and to propose courses of action capable of mitigating its harmful impacts. The survey method was used, with data collected through semistructured interviews and observation with a sample intentionally chosen from among the actors with the most significant participation and knowledge of the logistics actions practiced, analyzed with semantic and content analysis techniques, and the results presented in summary tables. The results showed that the difficulties in a) transporting goods were the reduction in river levels and the appearance of sandbanks and rocks; b) in the distribution of essential services were the failures in the supply of water and energy and health and education; in communication, the existence of few transmission towers, the lack of fiber optics, the lack of satellite communication and the high prices of communication equipment; d) the impacts of the difficulties were the reduction in the transport of goods, the impossibility of river traffic and the inability to carry out environmental logistics; and e) mitigation was to create infrastructure and access to water resources, improve transportation infrastructure, promote economic resilience, preserve the environment with sustainable resource management, strengthen participatory public policies and partnerships and universalize information and communication technology. The conclusion points to the lack of systematic humanitarian logistics during the 2024 drought, whose actions were closer to improvisation than those of other regions cataloged in scientific databases.Artigo de Periódico Análise das dificuldades na coleta de resíduos sólidos do ponto de vista de um coletor na cidade de Manaus, Brasil(2023-12-28) Santos, Thiago Augusto Moreira dos; Tino, Cláudio Fernandes; Silva, Daniel Nascimento eA large part of humanity already understands that natural resources are finite. It is, therefore, necessary to reuse all the materials and products we use as many times as possible, which has become an increasingly growing challenge. In this sense, this study aimed to analyze the main difficulties encountered in the selective collection of solid waste in Manaus from a collector's perspective. For this, the method used consisted of the following steps: a) elaboration of a theoretical architecture about the stages of the reverse logistics process, b) creation of an interview script based on the elaborate architecture and guiding questions, c) data collection with the member of a group of collectors, who explained and exemplified the interviewee's answers, d) organization of the collected data and generation of answers to the guiding questions. The results showed that five were the main difficulties encountered, which were classified as environmental (regional climate), conscientious (the lack of willingness of the population to collaborate with selective collection), transportation (lack of material and equipment), and commercial (the pricing of materials is not rewarding). The conclusion shows that only the environmental factor cannot be controlled. However, its effects can be mitigated if the other four difficulties are practiced, which is not a simple task.Artigo de Periódico Um estudo sobre a aplicação da inteligência artificial na movimentação de materiais a partir de publicações científicas(2025-04-03) Veloso, Jhuly de Souza; Silva, Daniel Nascimento eArtificial intelligence is one of the information and communication technologies that has promoted major transformations in organizations and their production processes, especially material handling. The growing number of published studies led to the development of this study, which aimed to describe the main characteristics of studies that report the application of artificial intelligence in material handling. The method used was the conceptual bibliographic, bibliometric design based on four stages: formulation of research questions, collection of bibliographic data, analysis, organization of the collected data, and generation of answers to the guiding questions. The results showed that the focuses of the applications are a) improvement and optimization of the logistics process, increased rationality of human-machine actions, and optimization of the decision-making process, b) use of several simultaneous methods and techniques, c) facing problematic situations aimed at problem-solving and generation of technologies, d) application of multiple artificial intelligence tools, e) successful results have increased competitiveness and rationality in material handling and f) opening for new and interconnected applications. The conclusion shows that using artificial intelligence has provided an environment for enhancing human cognitive capacity. The main contribution of this study to science is the finding that professional training in logistics needs to incorporate mastery of artificial intelligence.Artigo de Periódico Desafios Logísticos do Transporte Fluvial Amazônico(2025-03-11) Taveira, Nélio Junior Batista; Alves Neto, Me. José Luciano RodriguesThe Amazon region is known for its stunning landscapes and extensive rivers. These characteristics influence the waterway modal to be the main one in the region, but it is necessary to consider correct and effective ways to deal with the ebb and flow that year after year has become more extreme and prolonged, impacting the local economy and the daily life of inhabitants and companies. The objective of this work is to reflect on the general aspects of transport logistics, understand the waterway model and how it develops in the Amazon River. In addition, being a modal completely linked to environmental issues, we will analyze actions aimed at sustainability and environmental health. From this we will narrow the research to the consequences perceived in the Manaus Industrial Pole by local professionals and generate reflection on the main consequences of the lack of planning, the real needs for change and possible actions to combat the difficulties present in the dry season of the rivers in the Amazon.Artigo de Periódico Análise de aplicações da inteligência artificial na armazenagem de materiais: um estudo bibliográfico(2025-04-09) Montenegro, Samara da Costa; Veloso, Jhuly de Souza; Silva, Daniel Nascimento eThis study aimed to analyze ten publications that portray the application of artificial intelligence in material storage. The conceptual bibliographic method was used in its four stages: a) formulation of primary and accessory research questions, b) data collection in scientific databases, c) analysis and organization of the collected data, and d) generation and interpretation of the answers to the formulated research questions. The results showed that the goals of the studies focused on problematic situations that can be considered complex, the methods of the studies consisted of numerous techniques and procedures, the artificial intelligence tools applied in the studies were varied and in large quantity, and the results and conclusions of the studies show that artificial intelligence is a technology that can effectively solve problems and help to overcome storage challenges. The conclusion points out that the more complex the problem or challenge to be faced, the greater the effectiveness of artificial intelligence in solving or helping to overcome it. The study's main contribution to science highlights the need for logistics and storage professionals to know and know how to apply artificial intelligence in logistics practice. The method used involved analyzing the practice of three collectors willing to provide in-depth data and information obtained through semi-structured interviews carried out in the respondents' workplaces, which were then analyzed with the help of the conceptual bibliographic method and interpreted with the help of semantic analysis. The results showed that a) the main difficulties are extreme physical exertion, people's rejection, unhealthy working conditions, lack of personal protective equipment, and lack of participation by people, companies, and governments; b) difficulties occur due to lack of equipment, lack of technical knowledge of the materials handled, people's lack of knowledge about the importance of the collectors' work and lack of participation by society and governments in the selective collection; c) who could help to minimize these difficulties are the residents, companies, and governments and d) what the agents can do is to structure the collection (government), separate the materials (residents), provide more disposal sites (town hall) and donation of equipment and training (companies). The conclusion shows that agents are not prepared to carry out reverse logistics in the city because they are unaware of the importance of waste pickers' work to start the city's circular economy.Artigo de Periódico A implementação da Logística Reversa na região interiorana do Amazonas(2025-03-15) Souza, Sara Farias de AlmeidaThis study explores the implementation of reverse logistics in the interior region of Amazonas, focusing on the practices and challenges of this crucial activity for sustainability. Reverse logistics in the region involves the collection, sorting, and shipping of recyclable materials to recycling centers, which are mainly concentrated in large urban centers like Manaus. In cities such as Manacapuru and Parintins, local associations and companies play essential roles in waste management despite infrastructure limitations. The research, which includes a literature review and case study analysis, reveals that reverse logistics contributes to both environmental and economic sustainability by enabling the reuse of materials and reducing the need for virgin resources. However, its implementation faces challenges such as the lack of local recycling industries, the need for greater public awareness, and resistance to change. A success story like Fábrica Móveis Albuquerque in Parintins demonstrates the effectiveness of local initiatives but also highlights the dependence on infrastructure and support from larger urban centers. This study aimed to analyze the scientific productions on storage in the Google Scholar database in 2023. Theoretical Structure: The study's theoretical structure focused on the conceptual and operational aspects of the storage process in its various dimensions and analytical categories, enabling the understanding of the main aspects of the national scientific production published in Brazilian journals, platforms, and repositories on storage. Design/Methodology/Approach: The conceptual bibliographic method was used in its four stages: the formulation of research questions, with exclusion criteria and appropriate response standards, data collection in scientific databases, organization of data in figures and other diagrammatic schemes where the responses generated can be visualized, and presentation of the results in specific communication products for evaluation by the scientific community. Findings: The results showed that a) the most frequently discussed topics in the publications were storage, storage, and specific aspects of stored materials, b) theoretical-empirical studies were predominant, c) several different methods were used to generate the findings, with the experimental method prevailing, d) most of the studies aimed to apply the knowledge generated, e) only one-third of these publications were in journals and proceedings of scientific events. Research, Practical, and Social Implications: The findings show that Brazilian journals and scientific communities prioritize theoretical-empirical studies, especially those that have the potential to be transformed into techniques and technologies. The implications are much more impactful if the production is geared towards agribusiness. Originality/Value: The study shows the theoretical-empirical trend of research on storage, mainly because it is primarily carried out by engineering areas, which seek to solve problems that the agribusiness industry has faced in its challenges of increasing the efficiency of its production process combined with the increasing quality of its productsArtigo de Periódico Logística reversa do plástico no centro de Manaus: percepção da população(2025-09-16) Moraes, Vitor da Silva; Alves Neto, José Luciano RodriguesThe Manaus Free Trade Zone (ZFM), and specifically the city center, face significant challenges in plastic waste management due to its volume and environmental impact. Reverse logistics is crucial for sustainability, promoting the reinsertion of plastic into the production chain. However, the effectiveness of such initiatives directly depends on public perception and awareness. This study investigated the perception of passersby in downtown Manaus regarding the importance of plastic reverse logistics. Through a simple questionnaire applied to 50 individuals, using a 1 to 5 Likert scale, the results revealed that most respondents (90%) attributed high or very high importance to plastic reverse logistics, with 66% indicating "very high importance." Although awareness is high, the study highlights the need for adequate infrastructure, effective public policies, and environmental education campaigns to translate this perception into practical actions and strengthen the circular economy in the regionArtigo de Periódico Um estudo sobre as etapas do processo de movimentação de materiais em uma organização industrial de Manaus, Brasil(2025-05-15) Encarnação, Gessyca Sousa da; Silva, Rayson Gustavo de Castro; Silva, Daniel Nascimento eThis study analyzed the stages of the materials handling process practiced by an industry that operates in the industrial hub of Manaus. It used the survey method, whose data were collected with the help of a semi-structured interview script and another script to observe the functioning of the process selected for study, constructed based on the theoretical architecture developed based on the literature review. The results showed that a) the materials handling process practiced consists of eight stages, with the first being performed outside the storage area, b) the equipment used for handling is used in specific substages to perform specific activities, and c) the functionalities of the equipment used are associated with the efforts to maintain the integrity of raw materials and products while contributing to streamlining the production process. The conclusion shows that the practice of the materials handling process contradicts the theoretical architecture developed in the first and the last stages
