The aim of this paper was to present a study about the conceptions of the elementary school students of a public school in Manaus regarding the relation between food versus solid waste production. To this end, a bibliographic and documentary survey was conducted on the themes: legislation, sustainability, conscious consumption, solid waste and food. The present work sought to contribute to a state school in the public system of Manaus, because although it operates in an area of educational services, which operates at the regional level, the school does not have a teaching directed to solid waste and eating habits, duly elaborated and implemented, as they are presented as transversal themes.
