Sustainable Development (SD) is based on three pillars: Environmental, Economic and Social. Nowadays, with technological advances and innovative production processes, how are students learning this concept? For this research, a Sensory Garden (JS) already implemented at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Amazonas, Campus Manaus Centro, was used for students of the 1st year of High School in the class of the Technical Course in Chemistry, where it established the following problem question: “How to develop activities for teaching Sustainable Development from a Sensory Garden?”. The general objective was to investigate the contributions of a JS to the understanding of Sustainable Development and its Objectives, to students of the 1st year of high school. And as specific objectives, to propose Project-Based Learning (PBL) as a teaching methodology to approach SD based on the UN's 2030 Agenda, through the JS. And in addition, verify the potential of using JS as a didactic resource and non-formal teaching space, for the promotion of DS and its Objectives. The research approach was qualitative and the teaching method adopted was based on PBL. The insertion of the theme was aligned with the National Common Curricular Base, in the context of competences and abilities to be developed by the students, as well as the Transversal Contemporary Themes. The ABP project was developed in the form of a workshop lasting three hours (3h) presenting the JS as a non-formal teaching space, in order to promote students' awareness of environmental issues. After the methodological process, it was observed that the students were able to relate the SD to the JS, through observation and analysis of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that are part of the 2030 Agenda, presenting characteristics of the concepts addressed during the Workshop “Looking for Sustainable Development. And in the socialization of the artifacts elaborated by the groups, it was clear that the students were able to answer the driving question worked on in the structure of the PBL Workshop in Table 2.

This research investigates the implementation of the integrated curriculum in the Integrated High School with Technical Education at the Federal Institute of Amazonas (IFAM), with an emphasis on the curricular integration of the English Language in the Information Technology technical course. The study stems from the observation of curricular fragmentation and educational duality between English Language and technical subjects, evidenced throughout the Professional and Technological Education Graduate Program (ProfEPT). Considering the importance of English in the technology field and the need for an omnilateral education, the research analyzes how an instructional material can contribute to the implementation of the integrated curriculum. The methodological approach adopted is qualitative, based on Discursive Textual Analysis (DTA), as proposed by Moraes and Galiazzi (2011), following three stages: 1) unitization, 2) categorization, and 3) metatext production. Data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews with seven English teachers from IFAM and the analysis of Course Pedagogical Project (PPC). DTA enabled the construction of analytical categories that revealed structural challenges such as the lack of specific training for teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP), the absence of curricular integration, and the undervaluation of the English Language discipline within the context of Professional and Technological Education (PTE). Furthermore, it was found that curricular fragmentation and the lack of interdisciplinary approaches hinder the potential of English language teaching as a support tool for students’ technical education. In response to these challenges, the Practical Guide to English for Specific Purposes: Guidelines and Suggestions for Teachers of the Information Technology Course in Integrated High School was developed, featuring methodological proposals, pedagogical strategies, and integrative activities to strengthen the connection between the English Language and the technical components of the course. The study concludes that the implementation of the integrated curriculum requires continuous teacher training, student needs analysis, and active methodologies that foster the connection between English content and the specific demands of the Information Technology technical course. This instructional material is expected to contribute to overcoming educational duality and to the development of an integrated and contextualized teaching approach in Professional and Technological Education.

In view of the current context that experiences the implications of globalization, the importance of knowing at least one foreign language as a tool for insertion and social opportunities is visible, in this case English. In Brazil, the teaching of the English language is consolidated in language institutes and in private elementary education, because in the public sector, teaching in the initial grades is still deficient. For this reason, it is necessary an accessible way to help the learning of English in this age group, in this way, in order to solve the above issue, this work proposes to use image classification methods to make learning fun and interactive. In this sense, with the use of computer vision, a convolutional neural network model will be used to translate the images into words in English, thus promoting a playful and accessible teaching.

In the context of inclusive education and assistive technology, this study focused on the development of a computational tool for creating Unified Modeling Language (UML) Use Case diagrams with accessibility features in Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), called UMLibras. The tool aims to support teachers and students, with or without hearing impairments, in the teaching and learning of modeling computer systems from diagrams. The RAD (Rapid Application Development) model was adopted for the development of the tool. RAD is an approach that is particularly suitable for individual projects that require agile development and fast results, while maintaining the quality of the final product. Using the JavaScript library mxGraph and the VLibras API, UMLibras was designed to assist in the modeling of the Use Case diagram with associated figures and videos with interpreters. It is expected that UMLibras will contribute significantly to the teaching and learning of such UML models, seeking to offer support to the teacher in teaching, as well as to create favorable conditions for the learning of these students. In this sense, the use of UMLibras in educational institutions can promote both education and the increase in job offers in an inclusive and egalitarian manner.

This paper presents the development and analysis of a system aimed at evaluating socioeconomic data from Brazilian cities, with the aim of helping to understand regional disparities and formulate more efficient public policies. Data were collected from reliable sources, such as IBGE, DATASUS and INEP, covering education, health and income indicators, which were processed, organized and analyzed using tools such as Dask, Pandas and Cython, which optimized the processing of large volumes of information. The system was structured in a layered architecture, with a backend developed in Flask and compiled in C to improve performance, and an interactive and responsive frontend, implemented with Tailwind CSS, Semantic UI and visualization libraries such as Plotly. The results were presented in dynamic graphs that allow the exploration of data such as the evolution of GDP per capita, average wage and health indicators, highlighting regional disparities and development patterns. The analyses carried out highlighted the reduction in the number of school enrollments after the pandemic, the growing differences in average salaries between regions, and the prevalence of specific health problems in cities such as Manaus. The system proved to be a practical and effective tool for transforming complex data into accessible insights, contributing to urban planning and the competitiveness of Brazilian cities. It is concluded that the integration of socioeconomic data with modern technologies can promote more informed, equitable, and sustainable public management.

With the increasing concern about fluctuations in fuel prices, the need to search for options offering greater economic viability becomes evident. In this context, compressed natural gas (CNG) emerges as a promising alternative, not only providing price stability but also significant economic advantages when compared to gasoline and ethanol. The conducted study also aims to assess the availability of natural gas in the Amazon region, with a focus on its supply in the municipality of Manaus. This involves examining existing distribution infrastructure and expansion possibilities to meet the growing demand for cleaner and more economical fuels. Another relevant aspect addressed is the analysis of exhaust emissions indices in a sample of vehicles powered by compressed natural gas in the city of Manaus, compared to conventional liquid fuels such as gasoline and ethanol. The reduction of atmospheric pollutant emissions represents a significant advantage of CNG, contributing to improved air quality and the mitigation of climate change. Through this research, the feasibility of CNG utilization in Manaus is sought to be demonstrated, while also providing insights for public policies promoting the transition to more sustainable and economical energy sources in the transportation sector.

(2025-01-28) Nobre, Jaritsa Maria da Costa; Aguiar, Cristiane Pereira de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8948885803989120; Aguiar, Cristiane Pereira de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8948885803989120; Fernandes, Francisco José Rodrigues; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3166612623704256; Lucena, Ana Maria Dias da Silva; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3426441277160847
This paper aims to describe the process of regularizing and obtaining a occupancy permit for a single-family social housing property located in the Cidade Nova I neighborhood in the city of Manaus, Amazonas. Urban expansion requires strict control by public organizations, making regularization and issuance of a occupancy permit essential for the proper occupation of spaces and the correct execution of works and engineering services. The Cidade Nova neighborhood, located in the northern part of Manaus, was planned in the 1980s during the government of Professor José Bernardino Lindoso, initially to house 15,000 low-income housing units. However, only 1,800 homes were completed in the first phase, inaugurated on April 23, 1981. Since then, the neighborhood has expanded to include stages I, II, III, IV, and V, becoming the most populous in Manaus. The regularization of properties in Cidade Nova is an ongoing and detailed process that involves the presentation of documents, architectural projects, and obtaining certificates. The Municipal Institute of Urban Planning of Manaus (IMPLURB) considers regularization and occupancy permits essential for issuing the Certificate of Regularization and Occupancy Permit for buildings completed without prior approval and licensing of the architectural project. This study describes the case study of a single-family property that underwent this process, completed in approximately four months, resulting in a 20% increase in value after the issuance of the occupancy permit. During the execution of this work, the stages and challenges faced in the regularization and occupancy permit process were analyzed, with emphasis on the conformity of the building volume with current standards and the absence of frontal setback from the land, as required by Law No. 1.838/2014. The proposed alternatives were also evaluated, such as the applicant's handwritten justification due to socioeconomic limitations, and the CMDU's opinion that verified the possibility of regularizing the property. The results showed that, in addition to legalizing the occupation and use of the space, regularization provides greater security and peace of mind to the owners. The success in obtaining the occupancy permit represents habitability under current legislation and reflects the commitment to sustainable and orderly urban development in the city of Manaus. For future work, we suggest implementing realtime sharing systems between the sectors responsible for analyzing the regularization process, providing guides and teaching manuals, and creating free or low-cost technical and legal assistance programs.
