Bolts are the most used fasteners in the metalworking industry. There are an infinite variety of suppliers and manufacturers due to large applicability. Thus, quality control is important to ensure its mechanical properties in accordance with standards. So, the aim of this study was to compare randomly obtained generic bolts and standard bolts against established quality assurance standards. With regard to the tensile mechanical properties, the results showed that a standardized screw has a maximum resistance stress of 1137.39 ± 18.2 MPa, a lower value than that of a generic screw of 1164.00 MPa ± 32.42. However, the elongation of standardized screws was approximately 14%, a value higher than that of generic screws, around 10%. The Rockwell hardness results (HRC) confirmed that both bolts undergo a tempering and tempering heat treatment, as well observed on the microstructure. And finally, the elemental analysis of the percentage of Carbon-Sulfur showed that both bolts had values within the specified range. In general, there was no discrepancy in the values obtained, inferring, therefore, that although the generic bolts are cheaper, it also has similar properties to standardized bolts.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not a contemporary concept, and its presence is not alien to society; currently, numerous applications employ this knowledge. However, despite the growing incorporation of technology in various contexts and increasingly in everyday life, a significant portion of the population still views technological intervention with reservations. In the medical field, it is no different; there is concern about the replacement of healthcare professionals by intelligent machines. Those who think so are mistaken; currently, AI is already involved in various aspects, such as disease prognosis, image understanding, interconnection of prescription databases, among others, and yet there is still a need for human presence. However, such advances do not spread uniformly; there will still be many gaps in the democratization of the application of this resource, whether due to a lack of technology, training, or even distances. In the latter case, it is more common in Brazil, which has continental extensions. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in the last decade, two of the four leading causes of death in the world are related to respiratory diseases. In Brazil, according to the Ministry of Health, in the first nine months of 2022, there were more than 40,000 deaths from pneumonia alone. This work aims to compare machine learning algorithm models to present the pros and cons of each. Neural networks were used to check a dataset of images for training, validation, and testing of models with the purpose of recognizing and diagnosing cases of pneumonia through only X-ray examinations.

The research addresses the inefficiency of the machine responsible for assembling packaging boxes for adhesive products, representing a significant challenge in the production of a chemical products company. The analysis revealed that this operational failure negatively impacted the efficiency of the production line, necessitating manual packaging and increasing the time required to complete the task. This inefficiency not only compromised the operation but also resulted in a reduction in production capacity, an increased risk of human errors in manual packaging, and potential damage to products. The need to reallocate labor for manual packaging generated additional costs for the company. In this scenario, it became imperative to address and resolve the problem to optimize the efficiency of the production process. The implementation of improvements in the packaging box assembly machine became a strategic priority to minimize negative impacts on production. To effectively deal with inefficiencies, the company applied the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) method, a recognized tool for improvement management. The improvement team conducted a detailed data collection using the 5W1H tool to fully understand the problem. An initial countermeasure was adopted, adding an operator for manual box assembly while seeking a more comprehensive solution. The Ishikawa Diagram was used to map possible causes of inefficiency, including materials, processes, equipment, labor, and the environment. The Five Whys technique was applied to identify underlying root causes. Based on the identified causes, an action plan was developed, highlighting two crucial actions. A control plan was established to prevent recurrences of the problem. The results demonstrated significant improvements in the assembly process, allowing for the strategic reallocation of operators and increasing overall efficiency. The project's success underscores the effectiveness of quality tools in resolving operational challenges and emphasizes the importance of integrating quality practices into continuous improvement projects for operational excellence.

Nowadays, automation is a vital necessity, but we have managed to increase production in different systems, optimize time and resources, and have invested extensively in our industrial sector. Among the various devices used in the area of industrial automation, it is necessary to use the Logic Programming Controller (PLC) and use the ladder programming language, respectively, in relation to your custom and object. In this context, the job market naturally requires professional skills and qualifications for programming and operation. Therefore, he took a look at universities, institutions that trained him professionally. In agreement with the information released by INEP, our children are related to Accumulative Education Taxes (TDA) and Permanent Education Taxes (TAP) at the federal, state and municipal levels, a reflection, among other factors, of the high complexity of engineering courses, and remittance for this it is necessary to dream about the learning methods adopted by the formation of births. Without academic training, students find it difficult to learn how to program this equipment, there is little access to modules for laboratory practice or the unavailability of practical university courses. Thus, we understand that technical training must be linked to classroom theory, highlighting laboratory practice, using didactic modules, as a tool to facilitate learning, focusing on practical skills implemented by the job market. To begin with, this work aims to present a proposal for a portable teaching module for PLC programming practice, using the ladder language. It is believed that this prototype is a significant contribution to the engineering area in our specific disciplines of programming and training of future professionals in the Control and Automation Engineering course, so that they are trained, qualified and suitable for the job market, and to engineering professionals.

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using neural networks in the detection of COVID-19 through chest X-rays. Based on a literature review, the methodology for building the neural network will be defined, and it will be trained with data collected from reliable sources and analyzed to evaluate the accuracy of detection. The use of neural networks can be a promising and non-invasive alternative for the diagnosis of COVID-19, especially in regions where PCR tests are scarce or time-consuming. Additionally, the use of neural networks may offer advantages over other forms of diagnosis, such as computed tomography (CT), as chest radiographs are more widely available and less costly. However, it is important to consider the limitations and challenges encountered in using neural networks for this purpose, such as the lack of specificity in mild or asymptomatic cases and the need for quality equipment and trained professionals to interpret the images. This study aims to contribute to the advancement of COVID-19 diagnosis through non-invasive and effective methods, as well as to identify possible limitations and challenges in using neural networks for this purpose.
