This work addresses the proposal for automating the guarana seed dehydration machine at Fazenda Maués, a branch of Cibea Manaus. The farm, recognized for producing high-quality guarana since 2009, incorporated a new machine into its production system in 2022, modernizing the dehydration process, which is essential for ensuring the quality and viability of the seeds. The automation proposal includes a closed-loop control system, in which the temperature and uniformity of the dehydration would be continuously monitored by sensors. This data would allow for real-time automatic adjustments, ensuring that the temperature remains within the desired limits, which is crucial for the quality of the final product. The PID (Proportional-IntegralDerivative) controller would be the central component of this system, regulating the fan speed and ensuring uniform dehydration. The adoption of this technology is expected to bring significant improvements in terms of efficiency, precision in process control, and sustainability, reducing energy waste and operation time. Closed-loop automation has the potential to raise control and quality standards in the dehydration of guarana seeds, representing a significant advancement in the local agribusiness. Therefore, this work aims to contribute to the understanding of the proposed innovations in guarana industry automation, highlighting its importance for modernization and quality in production.

This work presents the development of a monitoring and protection system designed for electrical panels, focusing on residential and building applications. The main objective of the system is to enhance the safety and efficiency of electrical installations through real-time supervision. It uses the ESP32 microcontroller, known for its high processing capacity, connectivity, and low cost. Current and voltage sensors are employed to continuously measure the circuits' consumption. If the current exceeds the cable capacity for more than 10 seconds, the system automatically shuts down the circuit and issues an alert, preventing overloads, wiring damage, and fire risks. In addition to protection, the system allows for individual monitoring of energy consumption per circuit, providing a clear view of the electrical panel’s performance. This facilitates the identification of waste and contributes to the efficient management of the installation. The proposal also aims to prevent common failures, such as the improper replacement of circuit breakers and the undue increase of load on circuits, acting as a support tool for preventive maintenance and the modernization of installations.

(2025-04-28) Castro Filho, Francisco Assis de; Cordeiro, Celso Souza; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4969144304480235; Ribeiro, Ewerton Andrey Godinho; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0187470129136467; Lima, Jonatas Micael Vieira de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4866950717399057
Developed to democratize access to clean energy in isolated regions, the proposed wind system uses refurbished fan motors as sustainable generators, adapting common, lowcost components to serve as the core of a vertical-axis wind turbine. Designed for winds between 3 m/s and 8 m/s (typical of riverside areas), the structure employs blades made from recycled materials (such as discarded PVC) and a simplified transmission system, where the fan motor—modified to enhance magnetic induction—converts kinetic energy into electrical energy with up to 45% efficiency. Coupled with reused lead-acid batteries, the system stores up to 1.2 kWh, ensuring energy autonomy for 10 hours in the absence of wind—sufficient to power LED lighting, portable chargers, and small water pumps. Field tests under high humidity and sudden wind variations proved the prototype’s robustness, operating continuously for 72 hours without failure. Reusing the fan motor reduced costs by 40% (compared to commercial generators) and enabled training residents in practical workshops for assembly and repair, eliminating dependence on fossil fuels and reducing irregular disposal of electronics by 80%. Beyond enabling affordable energy, the initiative strengthens community management, integrating technical innovation, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion in historically neglected regions.

This work aims to optimize the metallographic preparation of quality control in a cementation process, focusing on reducing preparation time. Cementation is a widely used thermochemical treatment in the metallurgical industry, particularly for components that require high wear resistance, such as shafts and gears. Although essential, this process is complex and can become a bottleneck in production due to the numerous steps involved before final approval for the grinding process. The research is based on a quantitative analysis, where data on the Lead Time of the cementation process were collected. The results indicated that the preparation time is excessive, directly impacting the operational efficiency of the company. Identifying the steps that contribute most to this delay was crucial for developing optimization strategies. To address this issue, continuous improvement methodologies, particularly Kaizen, were implemented, focusing on waste elimination and promoting incremental improvements. The application of Kaizen in the cementation process allowed for a critical analysis of the involved steps, enabling the identification of improvement points that could be implemented to reduce preparation time without compromising the final product's quality. Additionally, the work includes a literature review that contextualizes the importance of cementation and metallographic preparation, discussing best practices and innovations in the field. The review also emphasizes the need for rigorous control during sample preparation, as the quality of metallographic analysis is fundamental to ensuring that components meet market standards. The results demonstrated that through the optimization of cementation process steps and the implementation of continuous improvement practices, it was possible to significantly reduce preparation time. This reduction not only increased production efficiency but also improved customer satisfaction, as they began to receive high-quality products within shorter timeframes. In conclusion, this work contributes to the machining field by presenting practical solutions that can be applied in industrial environments, promoting continuous improvement and competitiveness in the market. The findings highlight the importance of adequate planning and the adoption of continuous improvement methodologies to ensure efficiency and quality in machining and cementation processes.
