Item Estudo de caso: afecções do trato respiratório em cabritos.(2022-11-30) Braga., Victoria Gamboa; Lopes Júnior, Adilson de Lima; Lopes Junior, Adilson de Lima; Silva, Idalécio Pacífico da; Souza, Eduardo Lima deIn Brazil, goat production has advanced considerably over the years, mainly anejodue to the adaptability and rusticity of the animal and the numerous products that it is able to offer. However, within any animal breeding, it is essential that a prior planning is carried out for the use of appropriate techniques and correct management, ensuring the maintenance of animal health and welfare, quality of production, reduction of risks and future costs for the producer. In case of failure, the health of the goat is compromised and it may be predisposed to develop several diseases, being the respiratory system one of the most affected and that mainly affects animals that are still developing as goats. The objective of this study is to report three cases of respiratory diseases in goat kids that were followed up during the internship period at the Large Animal Clinic of the University of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science of UNESP - Botucatu in 2022, correlating them and seeking to point out the main causes of management error that may predispose the animal to these conditions. Besides the follow-up of the cases, the records of the patients and the results of the complementary exams, obtained through the internal system of the Veterinary Hospital, were analyzed. The patients of the case are male goats, of the Anglo Nubian breed, who were referred to the Clinic with the main complaints being dyspnea, apathy and lack of appetite. In only one of the animals it was possible to perform treatment and clinical discharge, the other two died the same day they arrived and the necropsy of both was performed to obtain the causes of death.Item Doença renal crônica em felinos - revisão de literatura.(2022-11-24) Prado, Maisa Renata Rosas do; Vieira, Flávia Volpato; Vieira, Flávia Volpato; Amaral, Rodrigo de Souza; Pereira, Larissa QuintoChronic kidney disease (CKD) is more commonly seen in cats of advanced age, being one of the most common causes of mortality in these animals. CKD is the result of a gradual loss in the number of nephrons leading to impairment of metabolic, excretory, endocrine and renal functions. The etiology of the disease is multifactorial and can be stimulated by numerous causes and from different origins. Polyuria and polydipsia can be the first clinical signs, however, at the beginning of the disease, the clinical manifestations can be nonspecific, so when the disease is discovered, it is usually in advanced stages, since it is difficult to identify it early. The assessment of the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is the most efficient method for diagnosing CKD, however, it is impracticable to be performed in the clinical routine, therefore, the diagnosis is based on renal biomarkers such as serum creatinine, SDMA, calcium and phosphorus, urea and others. The International Renal Interest Society (IRIS) establishes that after the animal is diagnosed, it must be correctly staged based on creatinine, SDMA, proteinuria and blood pressure. The importance of correct staging is to provide the animal with the correct treatment based on the stage and the clinical manifestations presented, because, as it is an irreversible and progressive disease, it does not have a cure, its treatment is carried out based on the clinical manifestations and to give a better quality of life for the animal. Because it is a difficult disease to be identified early and is more common in geriatric cats, it is necessary that these animals undergo a check-up at least twice a year in order to rule out or identify problems that could be a CKD.Item Hipertensão Arterial em Felinos: Revisão de literatura.(2022-11-18) Almeida, Liliane Bonfim; Vieira, Flávia Volpato; Vieira, Flávia Volpato; Lopes Junior, Adilson Lima; Pereira, Larissa QuintoSystemic Arterial Hypertension (SAH) is considered an abnormal and persistent elevation of systolic blood pressure (SBP) and its high values determine disease with or without clinical expression. Three types can be considered: situational or white coat, idiopathic and secondary, with a higher prevalence of secondary among felines, usually associated with some concomitant disease or condition. This work aims to carry out a review of the literature on SAH in felines, showing the importance of diagnosis and previous treatments of SAH. Early diagnosis of SAH is essential to prevent disease progression and reduce the chances of irreparable damage to the feline's body and, consequently, improve quality of life and reduce mortality. The prognosis depends on the nature and severity of the diseases that gave rise to SAH, and regular monitoring of SAH is important in order to avoid problems. Thus, it is important that the treatment is instituted with the objective of reducing the SBP values, in addition to taking into account the clinical animal situation, in order to reduce the risk of damage to target organs.Item Persistência do ducto arterioso: revisão de literatura.(2022-11-24) Maia, Giovanna Coelho; Vieira, Flávia Volpato; Vieira, Flávia Volpato; Tonin, Alexandre Alberto; Hirata, Karina YukieCongenital anomalies are mutations that occur during the formation of the fetus and can generate functional and morphological alterations of the organism during the life of an animal, and among such alterations, the Persistent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) would be the most common congenital heart disease in dogs, having a smaller casuistry when it comes to felines. The ductus arteriosus is a structure of the Cardiac System that is present during the intrauterine life of the animal, helping fetal circulation, since the absence of lung expansion during pregnancy generates an overload to the blood flow; and the ductus arteriosus is one of the vessels that should be closed at birth, once after the parturition of the animal, lung expansion and an increase in Partial Pressure of O2 occur, generating a contraction in the smooth muscle of the ductus arteriosus, causing the closing it and forming the Ligamentous Arteriosus. However, if such constriction of the muscle does not occur due to some congenital anomaly, PDA or Patent Ductus Arteriosus occurs, a disease that can present itself in two ways: the classic one, which characterizes the deviation from left to right that would be the blood flow from the aorta going to the pulmonary artery; or the reverse form, with deviation from right to left, generating blood flow from the pulmonary artery to the aorta. The diagnosis is made by the combination of clinical signs and complementary tests such as radiography, electrocardiogram and echocardiogram, which provide information on the state of the heart and what changes are occurring. The treatment is surgical, however, it is necessary to assess the general condition of the patient in advance to define whether he needs prior stabilization or not for the surgery, since PDA can also generate Congestive Heart Failure (CHF).Item Importância do médico na fiscalização e inspeção sanitária de produtos de origem animal como garantia na saúde pública: relato de caso.(2022-11-23) Pereira Filho, Geová Azevedo; Fernandes, Rinaldo Sena; Fernandes, Rinaldo Sena; Lima, Cristiano Lopes de; Ferreira, Jeffison do Nascimento PintoThe veterinarian plays an important role in ensuring the safety of food of animal origin. Meat is a potential contributor to outbreaks of foodborne diseases and that they must be properly inspected before being sent to the population's table, there are several problems related to the consumption of uninspected food, from clandestine slaughter to clandestine processing, mainly the DTA'S The main sensory characteristics analyzed by consumers at the time of purchase of this product are observed, however other factors such as lack of health education and purchasing power lead them to purchase. The inspection and inspection of the veterinarian consists in the verification of possible alterations that make the food unfit for human consumption. So, in addition to monitoring the production chain, the veterinarian, as an inspector, is responsible for deciding what is in proper conditions for consumption and condemning those that are inappropriate. The objective of this work is to demonstrate the importance of the Veterinary Doctor as an inspection agent in food safety and public health and to report a case of inspection by the official veterinary medical team of the state and the official veterinary medical team of the municipality, where there was an inspection, inspection, notification action. , seizure and destruction of 1.5 tons of product from an establishment that processed meat for the purpose of making jerked meat clandestinely.Item Perfil epidemilógico da leptospirose em humanos na cidade de manaus no período de 2009 a 2019 – Estudo Retrospectivo.(2022-11-24) Maia, George Jefferson Gomes.; Espirito Santo, Edson Francisco do.; Souza, Eduardo Lima de.; Sousa, Eduardo Lima de.; Neves, Kilma Cristiane Silva.; Endereço para acessar este CV: http://lattes.cnpq.br/8447103284183216; Albuquerque, Mariana Silva,Leptospirosis in Brazil is considered an endemic disease, however in rainy periods it becomes epidemic. In this context, the Amazon region being an area with high rainfall rates at certain times of the year, has an increased incidence of leptospirosis, which directly impacts public health. The objective of this work is to analyze the case series of leptospirosis in humans in the municipality of Manaus-AM, in the period from 2010 to 2019, tracing the epidemiological profile of this disease. For this retrospective study, information was obtained through the database of the Notifiable Diseases Information System - SINAN, made available by the Amazonas Health Surveillance Foundation - FVS/AM. A total of 1,259 reported cases of leptospirosis were identified between 2010 and 2019, with 460 confirmed cases. The South and North regions of Manaus stood out in relation to the number of cases, and there was a higher prevalence in urban areas. Most cases were autoctope, with a mean age of 33.36 years, most of them males. As a confirmation criterion in the diagnosis, the laboratory clinician was prevalent and there were 394 cases of cure of the disease. Depending on the information obtained, it is emphasized that there is a need for more effective measures in epidemiological surveillance, such as improving access to information for those most in need and improving public policies to ensure that people enjoy an ideal quality of life and with equality.Item A utilização de placas em cirurgias de fraturas de ossos longos.(2022-11-23) Cunha, Gabriel Lima; Souza, Alexandre Navarro Alves de; Souza, Alexandre Navarro Alves de; S. Filho, Márcio Nunes de; Costa, Bruna CastroTrauma can be characterized by a force that when applied to a body causes multiple tissue injuries and is one of the leading causes of death of dogs and cats in the small animal emergency. The care of the traumatized animal still represents a challenge for veterinarians at the time of the initial approach and triage. The work was carried out from the selection of articles, documents, websites, and online journals between the years 2008 and 2021, using as criteria of choice, relevance, year of publication, and availability for full access. Primary care consists of assessing airway, breathing and circulation, where the "ABC" of trauma is fundamental. Therefore, rescuers must be trained and updated in protocols, scales and triage systems that, although adapted from human medicine, are efficient and useful in making correct decisions and determining priorities to be established, which will directly influence the prognosis of the animals treated.Item Protótipo de tanque-berçário para criação intensiva de larvas de pirarucu(2022-11-23) Dantas, Francisco de Matos; Santana, Thiago Macedo; Fonseca, Flávio Augusto Leão da; Fonseca, Flávio Augusto Leão da; Silva, Dayse Silveira da; Oishi, César AugustoLarviculture is a challenge in arapaima farming, however several advances have been achieved in recent years. In intensive larviculture carried out in the laboratory, fish larvae are housed in tanks with different geometric shapes (square, rectangular, circular and trapezoid-circular), there is not a specific model of tank for arapaima larvae. The aim of this work was to develop a prototype tank in the shape of a circular crown, without the central area, specific for intensive larviculture of arapaima. After the planning and construction of the experimental tanks, an feeding assay was carried out with arapaima larvae in a completely randomized design with two treatments and five replications, as follows: test tank in circular crown format and conventional tank (circular). Arapaima larvae (0.21 ± 0.03 g; 3.58 ± 0.18 cm) were homogeneously housed in the experimental units, with a useful volume of 150L and a density of 300 larvae/tank in a recirculation system with phytoremediation, constant artificial aeration and natural photoperiod. Fish were fed eight times daily during 29 experimental days. The larvae were fed exclusively with Artemia nauplii during the first 3 days. On the 4th day, the feed transition was started by co-feeding by supplying Artemia nauplii and commercial crushed feed (Artemia nauplii + feed + water), in the proportion of 13% of the biomass for 9 days. After the feeding transition, the larvae were already trained to eat dry crushed feed. At the end of the experiment, we evaluated the zootechnical performance, parasitological analysis and cost of production of the larvae. Variables with parametric data were compared by Student's t test and those with non-parametric data by the Mann-Whitney U test (p<0.05). Fish raised in the test tank showed lower survival than those raised in the conventional tank (70.7% and 92.7%, respectively). However, the larvae reared in the test tank showed greater weight gain 2.14 ± 0.15 g, total length 6.97 ± 0.17 cm and a relative growth rate of 9.35 ± 0.25 %/day, probably due to the highest concentration and availability of food for test tank larvae. In the test tank, fish presented higher intensity of Trichodina sp. in the gills and mucus due to the accumulation of organic matter, especially after the feeding transition period. The conventional tank provided higher net income due to the indoor larviculture due to the higher survival rate. Test tank format can be used in the phase in which the larvae are receiving only live food, when food accumulation is not a problem. It is suggested adjustments in tank test to improve water circulation, to eliminate excess organic matter from the inert diet.Item Diagnóstico e tratamento da peritonite infecciosa felina: Revisão de literatura.(2022-11-23) Arruda, Evelyn Raiane Do Nascimento; Vieira, Flávia Volpato; Vieira, Flávia Volpato; Sousa, Alexandre Navarro Alves de; Pereira, Larissa QuintoFeline infectious peritonitis (FIP) is a systemic infectious disease that has a high mortality rate. Its etiologic agent is the feline infectious peritonitis virus (IFPV) caused by the mutation of the feline enteric coronavirus (FECV), which occurs during replication in the gastrointestinal tract of the organism. Thus, the virus acquires the ability to enter the bloodstream, making intense replication in one of the defense cells known as macrophages. As a consequence, there is the development of the systemic form of the disease that is considered serious. FIP is a widespread disease in several countries, which has no sexual predisposition, but has racial preference. This disease can also present two forms: the effusive form, also known as wet and the non-effusive form, also known as dry. Clinical signs are usually nonspecific and may vary according to the form of the disease. The most common clinical manifestations are persistent fever, anorexia, weight loss, diarrhea and dehydration. In the effusive form, peritoneal and/or pleural effusion, abdominal distension, dyspnea and jaundice can be found. In the non-effusive form, granulomas, uveitis, convulsions and behavioral changes may be observed. Its diagnosis is still a challenge because it does not have a specific test, so it is necessary to correlate anamnesis, clinical signs and complementary exams to obtain a diagnosis. The indicated treatment is supportive, with the possibility of immunomodulation and immunosuppression. Currently, there is a new possibility of treatment with the GS-441524 molecule that has been showing effectiveness in restoring the health of patients infected with virus. Thus, the present work aims to review updates on the diagnostic and therapeutic approach to FIP.Item Tratamento Fisiátrico em cães com displasia coxofemoral.(2022-11-23) Serejo, Catarine de Moura Campos; Souza, Alexandre Navarro Alves de; Souza, Alexandre Navarro Alves de; Lopes Junior, Adilson de Lima; Santos, Jomel Francisco dosHip Dysplasia (DCF) is characterized by being polygenic, quantitative, multifactorial and extremely complex, which commonly results in irreversible degenerative changes. It is a common joint disease in dogs, especially in medium and large breeds. Clinical signs vary widely, from intermittent claudication to acute pain and voluntary paresis. The definitive diagnosis is made only through radiographic examination, following standards of execution and interpretation. Clinical treatment includes weight loss, controlled exercise, anti-inflammatory and analgesic medications, physiotherapy that allows muscle strengthening and analgesia of the animal. Surgical treatment depends on the evolution of the disease.
