Item Abordagem do trauma em cães e gatos: revisão de literatura(2022-01-10) Firmino, Fabiola Pereira; Espirito Santo, Edson Francisco do; CV: http://lattes.cnpq.br/9182688702611043; Souza, Alexandre Navarro Alves de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0437267624497986; Souza, Alexandre Navarro Alves de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0437267624497986; Lopes Junior, Adilson Lima; CV: http://lattes.cnpq.br/9460575388098631; Santos, Jomel Francisco; CV: http://lattes.cnpq.br/6150387477411390Trauma can be characterized by a force that when applied to a body causes multiple tissue injuries and is one of the leading causes of death of dogs and cats in the small animal emergency. The care of the traumatized animal still represents a challenge for veterinarians at the time of the initial approach and triage. The work was carried out from the selection of articles, documents, websites, and online journals between the years 2008 and 2021, using as criteria of choice, relevance, year of publication, and availability for full access. Primary care consists of assessing airway, breathing and circulation, where the "ABC" of trauma is fundamental. Therefore, rescuers must be trained and updated in protocols, scales and triage systems that, although adapted from human medicine, are efficient and useful in making correct decisions and determining priorities to be established, which will directly influence the prognosis of the animals treated. The main symptoms can be fever, cough and dyspnoea and the risk may increase with age and the presence of other associated diseases in the patient. Currently, treatment is supportive and vaccination is the most effective method of combating the virus, but, given the still limited number of vaccines in the world, it is still necessary to continue preventive measures, preventing the virus from spreading, thus protecting way, yourself and others. Most global strategies for responding to the fight against this disease include various levels of contact screening and self-isolation or quarantine, which are the best forms of prevention and also the way to prevent further spread of the virus. Due to social isolation for disease prevention, one of the alternatives that can be used to provide information based on health education to the general population is through the mass media. Thus, the objective of this work was to use social networks as a tool to raise public awareness in relation to the prevention of COVID-19, in order to offer and facilitate access to educational information. The disclosure of the information occurred through daily posts through the @educacaoesaude_medvet profile of the social network Instagram®, which contributed to the presentation of satisfactory results related to the online questionnaire prepared in Google Forms, with questions on the following points: new coronavirus (SarsCoV-2) and disease (COVID-19) and the role of communication channels in the dissemination of true and false information. Which resulted in a total of 278 responses reaching an audience from all Brazilian states, with 80% of the participants residing in Manaus-AM. The filling was anonymous and voluntary, qualitative and quantitative in terms of the content and information conveyed inherent to the disease. This work resulted in the publication of a scientific article for the academic community, in the journal Archives of Veterinary Sciences and Zoology of University Paranaense-UNIPAR. Given the importance of the theme, it is necessary to continue this project through health education actions with the dissemination of health information, sources with true information, booklets and daily publications to reach a greater number of individuals and thus contribute to the formation of critical awareness. about the disease and maintaining its prevention.Item Alterações hematológicas causadas por estresse térmico em bovinos de leite: revisão bibliográfica(2022-01-14) Silva, Joziane Souza; Sousa, Isadora Karolina Freitas de; CV: http://lattes.cnpq.br/2017103871290472; Souza, Isadora Karolina Freitas de; CV: http://lattes.cnpq.br/2017103871290472; Sousa, Rejane dos Santos; CV: http://lattes.cnpq.br/4764433633924709; Araujo, Calleb Mendonça da Gama; CV: http://lattes.cnpq.br/4964745970937747Thermal stress is caused by the impacts of climate change and constant heat on animals, negatively influencing the performance of production animals. However, information about their reproductive biology is scarce and most of the data obtained is from snakes in captivity. Thus, the work aims to describe the histological aspects of the sexual segment of the kidney (SSK), a specialized part of the kidneys. Therefore, histological analysis and measurement of SSK were performed from 12 specimens of Corallus hortulanus collected in different months of the year. The histological aspects of the SSK observed were similar to those described for other species of snakes and the tubular segments had an average diameter of 76.8 ± 25.6 μm. However, a great variation was observed in the morphological aspects (hypertrophy, presence and disposition of granules) and in the diameter of the tubular segments among the individuals analyzed, apparently related to reproductive seasonality. The results obtained in this study contribute to a greater understanding of the reproductive aspects of C. hortulanus and the possible seasonal variations should be better investigated. Peritoneal effusions, present in the abdominal cavity, develop for several reasons and may have a single cause or association with other problems such as cancer, trauma, cardiovascular disease, nutritional deficiency, metabolic disorders and infectious diseases. The collection and laboratory evaluation of this fluid can provide important information that helps the veterinarian in identifying the pathology responsible for the accumulation of fluid in the cavity, thus determining a more effective treatment. It is also important to emphasize that complementary exams in most cases are essential for a definitive diagnosis.Item Análise Microbiológica do Leite Bovino Proveniente de Animais da Região Metropolitana de Manaus.(2021-10-05) Almeida, Kalyandra Rodrigues de.; Espírito Santo, Edson Francisco do; Espírito Santo, Edson Francisco do.; Azevedo Filho, Paulo César Gonçalves de,; Souza, Elda Ely Gomes de,Inflammation of the mammary gland, known as mastitis, is still a major problem faced in the Brazilian dairy sector, a situation in which early diagnosis and management are essential to prevent this pathology and to guarantee a quality final product. Production in the metropolitan region of Manaus is still carried out mainly by manual milking, and its characteristics indicate the lack of good practices in the milking process, which can lead to the appearance and spread of infectious mastitis in the properties. Due to these factors, this study aimed to evaluate the microbiological conditions of milk from animals with mastitis produced in the metropolitan region of Manaus. Previously, semiological analyzes of the mammary gland were performed, together with the black-bottom mug test for the detection of clinical mastitis and the California Mastitis Test (CMT) to assess the somatic cell index, 140 teats of 35 animals present were examined. in three selected properties. 98 samples were collected for microbiological analysis, depending on the presentation of changes in the tests. On semiological examination, five animals presented injuries to the udder and breast teats; only one (0,71%) teat of the 140 evaluated in the black-bottom mug test had lumpy milk; in the CMT test, 139 teats were analyzed, with 97 (69,79%) of the teats reacting positively to CCS. Regarding microbiological analysis, these indicated that Staphylococcus spp. was the main agent involved in inflammation of the mammary gland, with 97 (100%), followed by Streptococcus spp., with one (100%) sample and milk from the screen mug test and 64 (65,97%) of the samples reactive to CMT and Enterococcus spp. it was also present in 75 (77,31%). A prevalence of milk with increased CCS and a low index of clinical mastitis was identified in the screen cup test. The presence of the mentioned pathogens characterizes problems of human, vector and environmental contamination of the product, raising serious public health issues. It is expected that this work can collaborate in future research to guide on good practices in milk production in the metropolitan region of Manaus.Item Análise morfológica e histológica do aparelho reprodutor de fêmeas da serpente suaçubóia (Corallus hortulanus, Squamata: boidae).(2021-04-08) Lima, Vinicius Marques de; Neves, Kilma Cristiane Silva; Oliveira, Maria Ermelinda do Espirito Santo; Neves, Kilma Cristiane Silva; Santos, Jomel Francisco dos; Sousa, Eduardo Lima deReproduction is part of the life cycle of animals allowing the perpetuation and conservation of species. Information on the reproductive cycle of Amazonian snakes is scarce, considering the great diversity of species, and most of the data obtained are from snakes in captivity. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the reproductive system of Corallus hortulanus females, from the observation of morphological and histological characters of the ovarian follicles, vagina and infundibulum. For this purpose, biometric data and tissue fragments were collected for histological analysis from 21 specimens. The reproductive cycle was estimated through the ratio of changes visualized in the morphology and histology of the gonads throughout the year, as described in the literature, where ovarian variations were observed, from the absence of follicles, when the snake is not yet reproductively mature, to the beginning of development with follicular enlargement varying in size and shape among the snakes studied. In this study, follicles in primary vitellogenesis measured from 1.47 to 7.8 mm and were observed throughout the year. The greatest follicular development observed in this study, presumably secondary vitellogenesis stage, was detected in the months of May and June, the period of the rainiest season, and was observed in females with body size of 1,480 mm, presenting ovarian follicles with sizes from 10.0 to 12.57 mm. The histological analysis was in line with what is already described for the species and did not detect the presence of spermatozoa. Although the results on the cycle of the females were not conclusive, the observation of follicular development in the months of May and June, compared to data available for the species, support the hypothesis of synchronicity between the cycles of males and females, requiring an increase in sample size. The results obtained in this study contribute to a greater understanding of the natural history and reproductive cycle of Amazonian females of C. hortulanus.Item Atividade antifúngica de extratos vegetais contra dermatófito de importância em veterinária(2022-01-14) Carioca, Adrianne Pereira; Dias, Flavia Carvalho de Paiva; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6237416944456614; Neves, Kilma Cristiane Silva; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8447103284183216; Neves, Kilma Cristiane Silva; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8447103284183216; Dias, Flavia de Carvalho Paiva; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6237416944456614; Santos, Andréia PintoABSTRACT: Dermatophytes are fungi that can cause superficial infections of the skin, hair and nails in humans and animals. The most frequent species of dermatophytes of dogs and cats affected by mycoses are Microsporum gypseum and mainly Microsporum canis. The crucial role during the infection process is the production of extracellular enzymes essential for the invasion and establishment of the pathogen in the host tissue. The use of organic plant extracts to control parasites is commonly considered an important alternative. Caapeba Piper marginatum, as well as other species of the same Piperaceae family, has been studied in the control of phytopathogens in agriculture, as well as in the control of the malaria parasite, antifungal and antimicrobial activity. This study aimed to review the literature on dermatophytosis and determine the antifungal potential of Piper marginatum Jacq. against Microsporum gypseum Keywords: Dermatophytosis; anti-fungii; extract; alternative control.Item Avaliação de atividade antagônica de isolados de sedimentos do rio solimões ante dermatófitos de pequenos animais./ Aydra Laini de Souza Ciríaco.(2022-11-23) Ciríaco, Aydra Laini de Souza; Pereira, Larissa Quinto; Pereira, Larissa Quinto; Neves, Kilma Cristiane Silva; Silva, Idalécio Pacífico da SilvaDermatophytosis are skin diseases characterized by being a superficial infection caused mainly by fungi of the genera Trichophyton, Epidermophyton, Microsporum and Nannizzia. These diseases can affect canines and felines, also having a zoonotic potential. Due to the different pharmaceutical presentations of antifungal compounds present on the market and their easy access, indiscriminate use occurs, promoting resistance to the main drugs used. Due to unresponsive therapy and high rates of refractory cases, the costs and duration of treatments increase. In the search for effective treatments, the discovery of new natural products is essential, for this it is possible to study microorganisms, since these are a source of secondary metabolites that may allow the finding of these natural products with antifungal action capable of overcoming resistance mechanisms, resulting in an alternative and less aggressive form of treatment.Item Avaliação hematológica de cães sororreagentes para Leishmania spp nos municípios de Manaus e Presidente Figueiredo(2019-12-06) Oliveira, Mirella Castro; Vieira, Flávia Volpato; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1627861597325307; Vieira, Flávia Volpato; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1627861597325307; Tonin, Alexandre Alberto; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6912106214152950; Hoffmann, Daniel José; CV: http://lattes.cnpq.br/4603328886760993Leishmaniasis are diseases of a zoonotic nature with importance in public health, which has as a protozoa n etiological agent of the genus Leishmania spp It has a heteroxhenic biological cycle, with a phlebotomin e vector and among the hosts stands out the dog as the main reservoir, but it can affect wild mammals and man. In Brazil there is a description of the occurrence of tegumentary leishmaniosis and visceral leishmaniosis. The tegumentary form presents high casuistics in humans in the northern region. The present work evaluated 152 hematological samples obtained by peripheral venopuncture of dogs serororreagents to the DPP in the municipalities of Manaus/AM and Presidente Figueiredo/AM, endemic regions for t egumentary leishmaniosis. Erythrogram and leukogram were performed using a traditional manual technique and the differential leukocyte count was performed under optical microscopy, in immersion lens (100x). Of the 152 samples 32 were reagents for Leishmania spp. However, blood count, erythrocytes values, globular volume, leukocytes, platelets and total plasma protein showed no statistical difference between reactive and non reactive animals (p>0.05). However, dogs with leishmania spp may remain asymptomatic not presenting suggestive hematological alterations, since the most frequent clinical manifestation is dermatological. It is concluded that PPD is useful tool for screening leishmania sp p. although it does not present specificit y, false positives may occur. The hematological carcaterization of the samples studied did not present diagnostic indication. Thus, further studies are needed to investigate leishmania spp species involved in infections in domestic dogs in the Amazon r egions and their relationship with cases of human tegumentary leishmaniasis.Item Avaliação histológica do testículo e vesícula seminal de peixe-boi da Amazônia ( trichechus inunguis)(2022-01-14) Viana, Karoline Araújo; Amaral, Rodrigo de Souza; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3589101457101968; Amaral, Rodrigo de Souza; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3589101457101968; Santos, Felipe Faccini dos; CV: http://lattes.cnpq.br/2863984157626236; Kokubun, Hanna Sibuya; e CV: http://lattes.cnpq.br/2912384036403340The Amazonian manatee (Trichechus inunguis) belongs to the order Sirenia and it is an endemic aquatic mammal of the Amazon basin. Several studies on the biology of this species have been developed, however, the morphological aspects of the male reproductive system are not described yet. Therefore, the aim of this study was to describe the histological characteristics of the testis and seminal vesicle of this species. Samples from the reproductive system of 11 Amazonian manatees of different age classes were used, previously fixed in 10% formalin and deposited at the Aquatic Mammals Laboratory/INPA. The material was morphologically evaluated, and fragments were processed by traditional histological techniques, stained with hematoxylin and eosin and analyzed by light microscopy. The sections were photographed and its structures evaluated for morphology and morphometry. In general, the morphology of the reproductive system of the male Amazonian manatee was similar to that reported for other sirenian species. Furthermore, it was possible to differentiate sexually mature and immature animals based on their morphological aspects. The data obtained also corroborate the estimated age of sexual maturity for the species. This is the first report of histological evaluation of testicle and seminal vesicle of Amazonian manatee and, based on the results obtained, further studies should be carried out in order to understand the morphological variations observed in the analyzed adult individuals. Thus, this study aims to conduct a bibliographic review on animal welfare in pre-slaughter and slaughter management of chicken, describing pre-slaughter activities, stunning, bleeding and the Certified Humane® program. Improper handling of animals during pre-slaughter and slaughter can represent significant losses in meat quality and value, also being a key factor in ensuring welfare in poultry production. To this end, the particularities of each species must be respected from catching the animals at the farm until the time of slaughter, therefore, avoiding animal maltreatment and to promote actions aimed at animal protection and welfare. Once welfare standards are met, the chances are high that a quality end product will be obtained without high levels of partial or total carcass condemnation.Item Benefícios da nutrição parenteral e enteral em pacientes com gastroenterite hemorrágica por parvovírus canino do tipo 2: revisão de literatura(2022-01-10) Costa, Francely Nataly Loureiro; Vieira, Flávia Volpato; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1627861597325307; Vieira, Flávia Volpato; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1627861597325307; Brandão, Mariza Dinah Manes; CV: http://lattes.cnpq.br/8540977723934655Viral gastroenteritis is quite frequent in the routine of small animal medical clinics, among all etiological agents, canine parvovirus has been the main one described. Inviting the pathogenic nature of the virus, numerous animal metabolic imbalances occur. Thus, the treatment for this disease becomes, mainly, supportive and must be carried out in order to seek a return to metabolic balance while the animal recovers from the infection. Among these treatments, enteral (EN) and parenteral (NP) nutrition has been extremely useful in conjunction with the use of support, as it is through the presence of nutrients in the intestinal lumen that there will be stimulus for the epithelial renewal of the intestinal mucosa, strengthening this barrier and decreasing the possibility of bacterial dissemination. The present work consists of a literature review regarding the benefits of using EN and PN as important treatment measures against a parvovirus canine, regarding the length of stay of these patients and the mortality rate due to the disease. Our objective are to carry out a literature review on dilated cardiomyopathy, the etiology, classification based on clinical findings, diagnosis and treatment based on the scientific basis of articles, dissertations, national and international books from the last 15 years. dilated cardiomyopathy could have a genetic origin, myocardial toxins, nutritional deficiencies and viral diseases. Clinical signs are variable and could be more evident in phase III of CMD, which includes lethargy, tachypnea, cough, bloating, cachexia and syncope. Besides that wide lack of signals, some patients could have sudden death as their only manifestation. The diagnosis can be performed by the analysis of clinical signs, chest radiography, electrocardiogram, echocardiogram and laboratory tests. Treatment should be instituted according to the patient's symptoms and morphological and electrical changes that can be identified and monitored from the echocardiogram and electrocardiogram. These procedures involve several benefits that are currently well discussed, including population control, behavioral changes, prevention and treatment of neoplasms and disorders of the female reproductive tract. However, there are also risks involved in the practice of sterilization, and these can compromise the lives of these animals in the short, medium and long term, and are closely linked to the applied technique, as each method has a different complication frequency. Castration can be done prepubertal or postpubertal, but the two options involve benefits and disadvantages that need to be balanced. Unfortunately, the disadvantages of this procedure are rarely discussed, and as it is an irreversible procedure, it should be applied more carefully, individualizing each case. Therefore, this review presents some applied techniques, along with the benefits and risks of its use. Keywords: Sterilization. Techniques. Bitches. Benefits. They usually present the same clinical signs of urination disorders with or without urethral obstruction, so they often end up receiving the same symptomatic treatment. The objective of this study is to report a case of a patient who had urethral obstruction, followed up during the mandatory supervised stage. Considering the clinical signs observed and the analyses of their examinations, the patient presented systemic complications resulting from obstruction in the urethra lumen, with the presence of bacterial cystitis and hematuria. This condition with urine retention lasted long enough to generate systemic complications, which generated an acute condition of renal failure, with an unfavorable prognosis, and then the patient was euthanized Keywords: feline idiopathic cystitis, bacterial cystitis, obstructive cystitis, acute kidney injury, euthanasiaItem Cuidados iniciais com o neonato canino-revisão de literatura(2019-12-05) Esteves, Isis Mônica Fontes; Amaral, Rodrigo de Souza; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3589101457101968; Amaral, Rodrigo de Souza; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3589101457101968; Vieira , Flavia Volpato; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1627861597325307; Hoffmann, Daniel José; CV: http://lattes.cnpq.br/4603328886760993Neonatology is defined as the science responsible for the study concerning newborns. The canine neonatal period comprises the first two weeks of life of the puppy and this time requires specific care due to its fragility and particularities. The neonatal phase is full of adaptations that occur concomitantly with the development of vital functions not performed during intrauterine life. During birth the newborn is subjected to stress when moving from a liquid, closed and stable temperature environment to a dry, open and variable temperature environment, being forced, even under the best conditions, to undergo circulatory, respiratory, metabolic and other changes. Immunological So many changes make neonatal physiology different when compared to adult canine and require specialized care, as the mortality of puppies in veterinary medicine is high compared to human medicine. The bitch's health before pregnancy may reflect directly on embryonic, fetal and neonatal survival. Therefore, the female should be followed before pregnancy, undergoing pre-pregnancy examinations and throughout prenatal follow-up. Given the above, this paper aims to perform a literature review on the care to which the canine newborn should be submitted, specifically considering it’s particular physiology, some of the pathologies that may affect it and the integrity of maternal health to ensure its viability to the world. extrauterine.Item CUMPRIMENTO DAS AÇÕES SANITÁRIAS NOS ESTABELECIMENTOS AVÍCOLAS COM SERVIÇO DE INSPEÇÃO ESTADUAL NO AMAZONAS NO ANO DE 2019(2020-12-11) Ramos, Karolina de Oliveira; Espírito Santo, Edson Francisco do; Espírito Santo, Edson Francisco do; Sousa, Eduardo Lima de; Takatani, HaruóABSTRACT: With the increase in diseases caused by ingestion of foods that are wrongly handled, a greater understanding of inspection and inspection services is necessary, as well as self-control programs that aim to ensure the safety and quality of products of animal origin. . Bearing in mind that the state supervisory body, ADAF, carries out inspections in establishments with S.I.E. according to their risk, the objective of this work was to verify the effectiveness of the TF and to classify poultry farms according to the percentage of conformities. Thus, data were collected from 36 establishments in operation and perform their quantitative and percentage of non-conformities and conformities in relation to what is normally expected for a registered farm. These data were collected with the help of the TF, which was composed of 14 items and divided into other sub-items. Thus, it was identified that only nine farms are classified with an excellent percentage of conformities, 11 farms as good, 11 farms as regular and two farms as bad. Given these classifications, it can be said that more than half of the farms are within the expected standards. It is identified that, if the farms that obtained a classification lower than 50% of conformities, more than one inspection was carried out throughout the year, these would possibly have better performances, a situation observed in other places with such frequency. With that, it is concluded that, if the farms followed the model established in legislation, they would avoid the occurrences of non-conformities, inspection difficulties, improve the quality of the products, and consequently avoid the DTA’s. Immune-mediated hemolytic anemia is one of the most common autoimmune diseases in dogs. It results from the production of autoantibodies against the erythrocyte membrane, which can occur in a primary or secondary way. It is an autoimmune disorder in which the response is misdirected, going against host cell antigens, causing erythrocyte destruction resulting in extravascular hemolysis or intravascular hemolysis. The etiology of most cases in dogs is unknown. AHIM can be divided into primary (idiopathic or autoimmune) or secondary to other causes, which can be infectious (bacterial, viral, fungal), parasitic, neoplastic, associated with the use of drugs, vaccines or food. Clinical signs are nonspecific and may vary depending on the time of onset of the condition, and may be acute or chronic. The most common clinical manifestations are weakness, lethargy, exercise intolerance, pale mucous membranes, dyspnea, tachycardia, fever and jaundice. Among the laboratory alterations, we can observe the occurrence of moderate to severe anemia, which can be regenerative, but cases without regeneration are also observed. There is no gold standard test for diagnosing AHIM, however, knowing the characteristics and limitations of different diagnostic tests and correlating them with the patient's clinic, a conclusive diagnosis can be reached. Although its etiology is unknown and probably multifactorial, studies show that several factors can influence its development, such as genetic and molecular factors, the presence of chronic inflammation and viral diseases. The feline viral leukemia virus, being an oncogenic disease, can increase the chances of a feline developing this neoplasm by up to 60 times. Lymphoma can present itself in several anatomical forms, the main ones being the multicentric, mediastinal, alimentary and extranodal forms. Diagnosis is based on physical examination, complementary tests (blood count, serum biochemistry, radiography, ultrasound and urinalysis) and specific tests to detect the definitive diagnosis. The cytological exam is widely used in clinical routine as it is a practical and accessible exam. To establish the classification and analyze the architecture of the affected tissue, histopathological analysis is recommended. Lymphoma types and subtypes are identified by immunophenotyping and molecular techniques. Due to the high incidence of this neoplasm, it is extremely important to be aware of the different techniques available to diagnose lymphoma and characterize it. Therefore, this work aims to carry out a literature review of diagnostic techniques for lymphoma in felines. Keywords: Cytology. Histopathology. Immunophenotyping.
